1986 Started mass production of a-Si 3” TFT LCD for LCD color TV at Ishikawa Works of Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.
Started mass production of a-Si 4” TFT LCD for LCD color TV at Himeji Works of Toshiba Corporation
1990 Started mass production of large-size a-Si 10.4” VGA TFT LCD for laptop PCs at an affiliated company (dti) of Toshiba Corporation
1997 Started the world's first mass production of large-size low-temperature p-Si (LTPS) TFT LCD at Fukaya Works of Toshiba Corporation
1999 Developed OCB mode 7” TFT LCD for wide TV at Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.
2001 Awarded Meritorious Achievement Prize at the 33rd Ichimura Prizes in Industry in Japan to Toshiba Corporation for the success in mass production of LTPS TFT LCD
2002 Awarded the 48th Okochi Memorial Grand Prize in Japan to Toshiba Corporation for the success in mass production of LTPS TFT LCD
Established Toshiba Matsushita Display Technology Co., Ltd. (TMD) in April as a joint venture of Toshiba Corporation LCD Div. and Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. LCD Business Group
Started operation of the world’s largest scale plant for mass production of LTPS TFT LCD at an affiliated company (AFPD Ltd. in Singapore)
Started mass production of QVGA (240 x 320 pixels) LTPS TFT LCD for mobile phone application, causing TMD to leap to the very top in the industry
2004 Awarded the Advanced Display of the Year for 0.3 mm thin glass LTPS TFT LCD for notebook PCs
2005 Awarded the Advanced Display of the Year for the fast-response OCB LCD
Developed and started mass production of LCD that fully integrates the complete driving system using System-on-Glass (SOG) technology
2006 Started operation of the mass production line of LTPS TFT LCD at Ishikawa Works
Started mass production of 0.2 mm thin glass LTPS TFT LCD for mobile phone and notebook PC applications
2009 Changed company name to Toshiba Mobile Display Co., Ltd. in May
Started mass production of TFT LCD with a LED-based backlight system with extended life of 100,000 total operating hours for industrial use
Discontinued production at Himeji Works and TFPD Corporation
2010 Transferred shares of an affiliated company (AFPD Ltd. in Singapore) for concentration of the business line on mobile equipment and automotive LCD
